I tend to sway towards browns and copper-toned shimmers all year round to make my green eyes pop, but if there’s one time of year that anyone can rock a bronzed lid, it’s summer.
I tested out a few different eyeshadow products for you guys and included my verdict below, enjoy!

L-R: e.lf., Maybelline Color Tattoo, Maybelline ColorShow, Rimmel
e.l.f. Molten Liquid Eyeshadow in Brushed Copper
Application: 2/5
Colour: 3/5
Wear: 2/5
Packaging: 4/5
Price: 4/5 (£5, Superdrug)
I loved the idea of liquid eyeshadow and this one applies with a lipgloss-style applicator but I really didn’t like this product. It was difficult to apply evenly and ended up looked creased and faded even over primer.
Maybelline ColorShow in 23 Copper Fizz
Application: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Wear: 4/5
Packaging: 5/5
Price: 4/5 (£4.99, Superdrug)
This is a standard single eyeshadow in this stunning copper colour. It applies beautifully and is pretty long lasting.
Maybelline Color Tattoo in 35 On and On Bronze
Application: 5/5
Colour: 4/5
Wear: 5/5
Packaging: 4/5
Price: 4/5 (£5.99, Superdrug)
This is a well-loved product for many and I can see why. It’s easily the most long-lasting out of all the shadows I tried and I’m definitely going to try more colours in the range. This bronze shade was a little too dark for my personal tastes, though.
Rimmel Kate Moss Eyeshadow Stick in 100 Rose Gold
Application: 3/5
Colour: 5/5
Wear: 4/5
Packaging: 3/5
Price: 5/5 (£2.99, Amazon)
Forgot to get a pic of this one! It’s the most stunning colour but I’d describe it as copper and not rose gold as the name suggests. With the price on Amazon, it’s the cheapest of this selection but it doesn’t seem to be available in drugstores anymore.
When it comes to summer looks, I’m also a big fan of using bronzer as eyeshadow. The Makeup Revolution blush palettes are excellent for this as they provide a great travel-friendly solution
These were all similar priced drugstore products so I think it would be good to test other varieties but I wanted to try affordable shadows that offer different application styles. The overall winner has to be the Maybelline Color Tattoo for performance but I do prefer the colour of the Rimmel shadow stick.
Have you tried any of these eyeshadows? Let me know in the comments x
