Product Empties #7 March 2018

After what felt like a disappointing start to the year in January and February, I’m back to firing through products in March!

Makeup

MUA Pro Base Fixing Mist

This had a sort of paint-like smell like the Makeup Revolution one I didn’t like for the same reason. It has a pretty powerful spray on it if you like that and I mostly used it for wetting my sponges and brushes.

Repurchase? No

wet n wild Coverall Primer

I seemed to go through this fairly quickly but I use primer every day. It was mattifying and left my skin feeling smooth but I didn’t notice anything amazing in terms of pore filling etc. I really like the consistency though- it feels like a moisturiser but dries down matte.

Repurchase? Yes but not right away

e.l.f. Eye Primer

This felt like a really thin concealer and I don’t think it did anything more than a standard conceal would in terms of improving my eyeshadow vibrancy or longevity. I do like the applicator though!

Repurchase? No

Revlon Balm Stein in Rendevous

This was a difficult one to part with. I loved it through Spring and Summer last year and it’s been hanging out in my handbag since but what’s left of the product has sort of melted and broke out of the tube, making it difficult to apply. I might be able to depot this into one of those plastic well things maybe?

Repurchase? Let’s face it, I don’t need anymore lipsticks but I would use this again, yeah.

L’Oreal Infallible Liner in Browny Crush

There is still some product left so I’ll just apologise now if you don’t like waste but it had got to the point where it’s so tiny, sharpening it was getting difficult and I have way too many eyeliners to get through to spend that amount of time on this one.

Repurchase? Yes but not right away

Maybelline Anti Ageing The Eraser Eye Concealer

This is one of those that everyone has tried. I really like the coverage of this but the shade light is a tad too dark for my under eyes and I’m not the palest. They have released new shades since I got this so I’m not sure if I will try a lighter one or not.

Repurchase? Maybe

Skincare

20180331_142521-608269699.jpg

Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel

Loved this! It was my in-shower cleanser for most of its life but it’s good at removing makeup too if you’re looking for that.

Repurchase? Yes when I’ve got through some cleansers

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gelee Cleansing Milk

I’ve always loved Neutrogena but this isn’t one of their best products. It feels great on my skin but it’s sadly no good at removing makeup, which is what I bought it for.

Repurchase? No

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Moisturiser

Another product from Neutrogena’s new line is this gel moisturiser. This is great for oily skin as it sinks into the skin really well and doesn’t feel greasy but it’s not the most moisturising.

Repurchase? Probably not

PS…Pro Makeup Melt

There is a little bit of product left in here but it was starting to get messy whenever I tried to use it. This is a gel to oil consistency that actually removed makeup pretty well but I’m not really a fan of oil removers as it left my skin feeling greasy and was really hard to wash away in the sink.

Repurchase? Don’t think it’s available anymore but no

PS….Hydrating Mist mini

This mini bottle is the perfect size for my handbag and I’ve carried it round with me for on-the-go hydration. It does the job but I’m not sure it has any amazing skincare benefits. It was only 90p though!

Repurchase? Maybe, I’m definitely keeping the mini bottle!

PS…Eye Makeup Remover mini

The bigger size was much better value but I’m glad I didn’t pick it up since this stung my eyes so badly! I recently picked up a few other bits from Primark’s skincare range so I hope they’re better than this.

Repurchase? No

Cataphil Cleanser Mini

I didn’t use this consistently enough to see what it did but it removed makeup and cleansed the face well so I probably would use it again.

Repurchase? Yes

Bath & Body

The Body Shop Shea Scrub

I got this in a Look Incredible box and who doesn’t love The Body Shop products? This scrub did the job and was super nourishing but it did leave my skin feeling little greasy afterwards.

Repurchase? Probably not the Shea variety but I would try more TBS scrubs

Nars Monoi Body Glow II

This is another Look Incredible product that I enjoyed using. It smelt lovely and was designed to give a bit of a body glow but I used most of it up by pouring a little in the bath for nourished skin.

Repurchase? No, but I would use it again

Radox Feel Relaxed Bubble Bath

I got through this quickly but I think I use too much. It smelt pleasant enough and certainly did the job.

Repurchase? Yes

Baylis & Harding Beauticology Shower Creme Toffee Apple

And now we get into the Christmas bath set stuff I’ve been using…I didn’t like the artificial smell of this and it’s that gel consistency that I’ve disliked in their other products as I end up using it all up in about two washes!

Repurchase? No

Baylis & Harding Beauticology Sparkle Body Wash Gingerbread

I’m not sure why this is called a sparkle body wash but I liked this one a tiny bit more. I wasn’t a big fan of the scent again though!

Repurchase? No

Madara Spa Amber Heaven Shower Scrub

Another Christmas giftset product was this mini scrub. It had a cream consistency with scrub beads and felt quite nice to use but not the type of scrub I tend to go for.

Repurchase? No

Ted Baker Body Spray White

This is from a trio of body sprays and had a pleasant, everyday sort of scent so I got through it quickly!

Repurchase? Probably not

Baylis & Harding Midngiht Fig & Pomegranate Bath Soak Crystals

I’ve got more into baths recently so these were a nice treat but I’m never sure what they actually do? They smelt good though!

Repurchase? Maybe

Masks

20180331_142709-905272665.jpg

Soap & Glory Radiance Mask

This is the last of the Soap & Glory sheet masks I bought and is the radiance variety. I think these are great for a pamper night but there’s no real lasting benefits and I think you can find sheet masks just as good for a lot less.

Repurchase? I would use again but wouldn’t buy at current price

nugg Face Mask Revitalizing

I think I got this free with a Beauty Bay order once. I managed to get two uses out of this pod as you get quite a lot of product but these pods aren’t really designed for more than a single use. I liked this but don’t think I would rebuy in the current pod design.

Repurchase? Probably not

PS…Holler and Glow Purrfect Pedi Sock Mask

I wanted to see if these sock masks really work so picked this one up for £4 in Primark. Hard skin is supposed to peel away from your feet after 7-10 days of using the mask, but it’s been longer than that and I haven’t noticed anything at all which is disappointing.

Repurchase? No

Other

PS…Round Cosmetic Pads

Not much to be said on these. I pretty much go through at least one pack of cotton pads every month and always have backups

Repurchase? Already have

Boots Essentials Cucumber Cleansing Wipes

I used these more for cleaning up swatches and wiping down my dresser etc. than actually on my face but sometimes I’m lazy. They smell great and do the job but nothing incredible.

Repurchase? Probably

Real Techniques Miracle Cleansing Sponge

I’m not sure if I was doing something wrong with this but I just wasn’t that impressed. It’s just a sponge. Like just a basic sponge that you could find anywhere for way cheaper, only it’s shaped like the miracle complexion makeup sponges and has great reviews on Superdrug’s website so I thought I was going to like it more than I did.

Repurchase? No

PS…Rest Sleep & Pillow Spray

This was a cute mini sleep mist that I picked up reduced for 50p. I’m not sure if it did anything to help me sleep but it was nice and I enjoyed using it.

Repurchase? I would use again but don’t think they have them in Primark anymore

Live Love Hand Wash Energising

I normally draw the line at including hand wash in my empties posts but I did purchase this one from Tam Beauty before the rebrand and had to mention it as it smells amazing!

Repurchase? Already picked up some backups but I think it’s discontinued now!

  1. I like the wet n wild primer as well but can’t put my finger on why either. Because it really doesn’t minimize pores or do anything amazing. It must be something to do with the finish 🧐
