Part of the Revolution brand, XX Revolution launched earlier in the year as a slightly more high end offshoot. Previously, I’ve seen them release similar products under their various different names so I was curious if XX Revolution is worth the higher price tag and today we’ll be reviewing the XXposed Eyeshadow Palette.

Packaging
The shiny silver plastic compact this palette comes in definitely looks and feels a lot more lux but if you have a few of these, I imagine it’s difficult to tell them apart. Inside, you get a mirror and the eyeshadow quad.

Price
All the XXpress eyeshadow quads retail for £10 in the UK. I’ve seen a lot of people complaining that this is expensive for Revolution but we have to remember that this is a separate brand. If a new brand launched and we didn’t know it was affiliated with Revolution, I don’t think the prices would be an issue. As a drugstore or midpriced brand, I still think it’s quite a lot but I personally paid around the £6-£7 mark from Boots on offer.

Shades
I picked up the XXposed palette which is one of the neutral options featuring two mattes, one satin matte/light shimmer and one foiled shadow. I didn’t notice it from photos but I’ve heard that this is similar colours to the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk palette.

Application
All four of these shades apply really well on the eyes. The foiled shade can be tricky to pick up on a brush but it applies well using a finger. I don’t really mind that personally but it can get messy. The mattes are quite subtle and can be built up easily which I like and they blend really well together.

Wear
Over my usual eye primer, these shades last around the 8 hour mark which is good enough for me. I did notice some glitter fallout under my eyes if I used the foiled shade but I wouldn’t use that shade every day anyway
Overall, I wasn’t blown away by this palette but I do think the colours are gorgeous and it’s really nice quality. It’s difficult to say if I think XX Revolution is worth the XX extra cash but I think if you can get it cheaper like I did, you won’t be disappointed.

Great review! I wasn’t very impressed with this palette as the shades are very similar. I do love the glitter shade though. Such a pretty addition for the Holidays. 🙂

Yeah I know what you mean I feel like it could have been a duo even and not a quad? I do like the glittler formula though x

That would’ve been a smarter idea. 🙂

This looks so pretty and the foil is stunning, I usually like to use my fingers for metallics anyway so it wouldn’t be much of a hustle

It’s super pretty. I quite like having the foiled shade, makes the palette a bit different!
